Professional Background
Sylvia took a slightly different path than most. After getting married and starting a family in the 70’s, she decided she wanted more. Sylvia did just that as her youngest, Brannon, started kindergarten she started college.
Between Fairmont State University and Glenville State, she earned her bachelor’s degree in K-9 education followed immediately by her Master’s degree from West Virginia University.
Over the next several decades, she spent a majority if her professional career teaching middle school and junior high math. In the late 90’s though, Sylvia wanted a new challenge which led to a job with the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) for several years.
Following her late husband’s retirement in 1999, they moved to North Carolina where she continued her teaching career before retiring in 2012.
Not one to sit idle, Sylvia joined Canvasback Wealth Management full time in early 2024. She handles a variety of duties in the office but none more important than baking goodies for our annual Christmas drop off. If you have been on the tasting end of her cookies, you know exactly what we mean.
What Matters Most
Born, raised and having met in the West Virginia mountains, Jack and I decided to relocate to North Carolina after his retirement. We wanted to be closer to our sons, Brent and Brannon. Eventually they blessed us with three amazing grandchildren, Ian, Jerri and Forde.
When not working, you will likely find me keeping house, working in the yard, playing cars with my grandson or volunteering at my church. I cherish time with my family more than anything.
